Can I Whiten with Braces or Retainers?

We love a good straight smile—but what about a bright one too? If you’re currently wearing braces or a retainer, here’s what you need to know before you whiten:
Clear Retainers? You’re in Luck.
If you wear a clear retainer (like Invisalign or a night guard), you can absolutely whiten—just remove it during treatment. We’ll apply the whitening gel directly to your teeth and use our LED light to safely lift stains. Afterward, we’ll give you tips on how to keep that glow going between trays.
Metal Braces? You’ll Want to Wait.
If you have traditional metal braces, whitening isn’t ideal just yet. Why? Because the gel can’t reach the enamel under the brackets—so you’ll end up with uneven coloring once the braces come off (think two-toned teeth, and not in a trendy way).
We recommend holding off on full whitening treatments until your braces are removed. But don’t worry—we’ll be here with open arms (and open appointment slots) when that day comes!
Let’s Talk It Out
Not sure what category you fall into? No problem. Book a quick consult and we’ll give you honest, personalized feedback based on your current dental situation.
Our goal is to help you whiten safely, evenly, and effectively—whether that’s now or after your braces are off.
